Buying Tickets Through Google Search Got Easier

The revamped Google Search allows users to directly buy train tickets, see actual fares for the destination they are interested in, and choose greener options. This feature is currently only available in select regions, but the company plans to add more countries in the near future.

Users from Italy, Germany, Spain, and Japan can buy train tickets directly through Google Search. Now they see the exact cost of all available options and can manage filters to select the items that suit them best. When buying train or plane tickets, as well as booking hotels, there is an opportunity to choose sustainable options (they have the “eco” labels). After you click on the line that suits you, you will be automatically transferred to the partner’s website, where you can complete the transaction. After testing the new functionality in the designated four countries, the company plans to expand the geography and make the service available to more users.

These measures were taken as part of Google’s global initiative to improve the environment. All eco and sustainable options received labels after 2021 when the tech giant began tracking carbon emissions. The company works with major organizations like the Global Sustainable Tourism Council to prioritize greener options when making recommendations to users. Hotels can declare their eco-friendly approach on their own, and air and train tickets are picked according to estimates by the European Environmental Agency. At the same time, you still have the opportunity to choose any other options, regardless of the environmental focus of companies and agencies.

How do you like this Google update? Do you find this format of buying tickets and booking hotels convenient? Please share your thoughts if you’ve already tried out the new tools!
